Lesson Policy (Fall 2023)
We work extremely hard to deliver the most state of the art guitar lessons available anywhere. As a result, we carry a tight schedule and need to be strict with our policies. This works for everyone’s benefit. When you show up early and are in a positive mindset the quality of the lessons are of very high calibre. If a student is late or doesn’t show up then it becomes easy to fall behind, and out of a routine! Plus another student who really wanted that spot could have been granted it. So it’s a loose – loose situation.
Below are some answers to frequently asked questions.
- Rates: Lessons are not available on a week-by-week basis or bi-weekly. Students are enrolled in a monthly billing plan. email us for current rates… Hourly lesson are also available but limited. We also offer guitar lessons over the internet via Skype
- Monthly Tuition: Tuition is due on the first lesson day of each month. Tuition is for one recurring lesson slot per week. Monthly tuition may be paid by eTransfer (info@szerykguitaracademy.com) or Cash.
- Makeup Lessons: If a lesson is cancelled or missed, a makeup may be requested, but is not guaranteed. Makeup lessons are offered only at the teacher’s discretion. 24 hours notice must be given for a lesson to be considered for a makeup.
- Teacher cancellation: If your teacher cancels, we will attempt to provide a substitute. If we are unable to provide a substitute, you are entitled to partial monthly credit or a makeup. To exercise either option please inquire by email.
- Un-enrolling: You may cancel your enrolment at any time; however, no refunds can be issued. Therefore, students should cancel their enrolment seven days before the 1st of the calendar month, when the tuition payment is billed. Lessons that are scheduled and not attended are billable. Please let us know if you will stop taking lessons; if you do not provide 7 days notice, you will be billed for the upcoming month. This notice must be in writing and must be sent to: info at szerykguitaracademy dot com
- Weather Days: If weather emergency is declared or if public transportation is closed due to weather, we may cancel lessons to ensure the safety of our students and teachers. Lessons cancelled due to weather are subject to the aforementioned makeup policy; makeup lessons are offered by the discretion of the instructor and are not guaranteed.
- 100% referral policy: We are completely committed to the happiness and success of our students. Our goal is total student satisfaction. If we succeed at that goal, we ask for you to share your story with your friends. Referrals help us to grow our school, develop our teaching methods, and invest in staff and equipment dedicated to making improvements. So please tell your friends about us! It’s good for us, and it also helps to keep us focused on your happiness.
- Tuition increases: Each January, we will reassess tuition rates and make adjustments as necessary. You will be notified and reminded of this routine pricing adjustment at your lesson.
- Information Privacy Policy: Music is a pursuit driven by performances and publicity. Photos, videos or recordings that we take of you may be used for educational and promotional purposes on the web. Your privacy is very important to us, and we will honor all requests to keep the aforementioned information private.
- Gift Certificates: Can be issued upon request and must be used within the year (365 days) of being issued.
- Sheet Music: Students are responsible for their own sheet music, which means songs in standard notation and tablature. Tabs downloaded off internet sites are often plagued with errors therefore leading to an increase in learning time. So Tabs off the internet are unacceptable… There is a wealth of music available from Hal Leonard and Alfred Publishing.
- Punctuality: Try to show up a few minutes early, tune up and warm up. You will be much more relaxed and get more out of your lessons. Extra lesson time is not available as we can’t run into the next lesson time… So if you were to show up 10 min late that time can’t be made up. Lessons start and finish on the hour and half hour.
- Cellular Phones: Please refrain from phone calls and text messages during your lessons… Smart Phones may be used to Audio or Video record your lesson… We actually encourage this as it allows you to review your lessons.
- Getting the most out of your lessons: The best athletes in the world have amazing coaches and workout routines… Be organized; get a small 3 ring binder to keep all your lessons organized. Write down questions during your week so you will have them for your lesson. Work on and keep refining your practice routine. Yes practice makes good results, but a strategic practice routing yields superior results and learning efficiency.
